Nigel Poor

Nigel Poor is a visual art whose work explores the various ways people make a mark and leave behind evidence of their existence. In 2011 Nigel began volunteering at San Quentin State Prison as a professor for the Prison University Project. It was through teaching that she became involved with various collaborative art projects with men currently serving time at the prison. This work eventually lead to the creation of the podcast Ear Hustle, the first podcast to be completely produced from inside a prison. Nigel’s art work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and can be found in various museum collections including SFMOMA, the M.H. deYoung Museum and the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. She is a professor of photography at California State University, Sacramento.
